A River Runs Through It

The Mettawee River cuts through the heart of Granville. It originates about 12 miles away, in Dorset, Vermont, and flows northwest, emptying into Lake Champlain in New York State.

This beautiful covered footbridge spans the river in the center of the village. The light gray building on the other side is the Slate Valley Museum, which displays the history of -- you guessed it -- slate in this region of New York and Vermont.
